The North Sea Trail is a hiking trail around the entire North Sea. In Denmark the North Sea Trail can be found along the southern and western coasts of Sealand. It continues in Jutland along the eastern coast from Grenå to Skagen in the north from where it continues south along the West Coast. Halfway down the West Coast the trail moves inland and follows the historic cattle roads towards Germany. In Denmark, the trail is roughly 1.500 km and is easily accessible and nice to walk on.

The North Sea Trail between Agger and Bulbjerg follows the old Rescue road. The trail consists primarily of grass covered wheel tracks in a magnificent and slightly hilly dune area with a fantastic view of the dune areas.

Occasionally you also pass through shady plantations and walk on the white sandy beach with the ocean and the ever thundering surf as you closest neighbour.

The Rescue road passes through the characteristic fishing villages, Agger, Nr. Vorupør, Klitmøller and Vigsø where you can find grocery stores and various types of accommodation. In the smaller villages, Lyngby, Stenbjerg, Vangså and Lild Strand the options are more limited. In the harbour town of Hanstholm you can find a variety of different stores and accommodation possibilities.

The North Sea Trail also passes through an uninhabited scenery with a great beauty. The trail is marked, but we recommend that you bring along a map of the North Sea Trail or the folder “West Coast Trail Agger-Bulbjerg” where you can see the trail. You can pick up both the map and folder at Thy Tourist Office in Hanstholm and Thisted.
